First Step into Animation

Ever since I was a kid, I have been absolutely captivated by animation. I am a lifelong fan of Pixar, Studio Ghibli, Disney, Dreamworks, and Nickelodeon. I was never great at drawing so I never pursued animating beyond some old flipbooks I made of a guy shooting hoops. I think that because no one ever really explained to me that I could actually DO the things that I loved, like work on movies or video games, that I never tried to pursue it.
I regret not practicing drawing now that I'm older, because it would be an absolute dream come true for me to work on video games, cartoons, or animated film. One day, I was watching Kurzgesagt and the Infographics Show on Youtube, when the latter promoted the site, Skillshare. They recommended a certain class explaining that it was how they got their start with AfterEffects animation. I immediately signed up and took the class and this was the result. I followed the class' character model very closely so that I would be able to follow along with the videos. I dressed my model in the likeness of my close friend and constant inspiration, the aspiring animator, Mamadou, who happened to be working at the coffee shop I was at when I started this. Although, he's much less round in real life.
For anyone interested in AfterEffects animation, the class is called "Simple Character Animation" and is taught by Fraser Davidson. I plan to learn much more from Skillshare and hope to one day work on a real animation project. It's never too late to start doing what you love.
